Afro - Caribbean Commercial Science Network
The Afro - Caribbean Commercial Science Network (ACCSN) is on a mission to increase the representation of black and ethnic minority individuals in the commercial science and wider life science industry. They achieve this by providing support and development opportunities to both current and aspiring professionals in the field whilst fostering a thriving community where individuals can excel together. In addition, they strive to make the commercial science sector more appealing as a career destination for black and ethnic minority individuals. They achieve this by providing valuable opportunities, safe spaces for collaboration, networking platforms, and mentorship programs. Through these initiatives, ACCSN breaks down barriers and creates pathways for underrepresented individuals to succeed and thrive in commercial science.
ConnectHive supports the ACCSN by offering its members career support and mentorship from our community of volunteers. In this niche industry, it can be especially challenging for those from ethnic minority backgrounds to build the networks needed to access opportunities or to choose a suitable career path. ConnectHive is able to source mentors from specific areas such as biotechnology, scientific academia, diagnostics, instrumentation, pharma, molecular biology, chemistry and medical devices to guide and support the ACCSN community to build the best careers for themselves, in spite of the additional obstacles they face.
